Justin Steger is a percussionist, composer, arranger and educator that now resides in Orlando, Florida. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, he has studied at Cypress Lake Center for the Arts, Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Central Florida under the direction of Jeff Moore where he received many awards as a solo performer and has been frequently featured as a soloist with the UCF wind and percussion ensembles. Justin has toured the United States and has performed internationally. Although his primary studies were in classical percussion, he has since arranged for and performed with musicians in the genres of jazz, rock, latin, flamenco and other fusions of world music. Justin’s classical and jazz compositions, arrangements and recordings have been performed and featured many times throughout his career at universities, high schools and on programs broadcast on National Public Radio, Spotify and various jazz radio stations. In the last 15 years his musical endeavors have been continuously representative of his versatility as a musician. The 2006 recording Convergence with his musical fusion trio Luminosity Featured him as a Jazz Vibraphonist. His 11 year tenure as the primary percussionist for multiple flamenco-fusion groups including Fusion Gitana, Son Flamenco and The Don Soledad Group and Flamenco Del Sol feature his skill on the cajon and various other percussion instruments from around the world. Currently Justin continues to teach as an private instructor and clinician in the orlando area and also as a classical percussionist with the Florida Lakes Symphony, the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra and the Bach Festival Orchestra.
