Are you a school?
OYCE provides supplemental music education to existing student musicians. We do not replace your music program but instead, we support it. Our season revolves strongly around the public school schedule of events.
Where are you located?
We are based out of Orlando, FL but we service all student musicians within the Central Florida area.
Does my student currently need to be in their school's music program?
It is a requirement for students to be actively participating in their school's music program, with the exception of homeschooled student musicians. Please contact us for special circumstances.
How old does my student have to be to participate?
We accept 7th-12th graders of all musical backgrounds, we prefer student have at least 1 year of musical training. Please contact us for special circumstances.
How much does it cost to be a member?
OYCE is devoted to making music accessible to all student musicians in Central Florida. Memberships range anywhere between $75-$175 for the year depending on how many ensembles the student participates in. we require a $10 registration fee that is added towards the yearly tuition. Scholarships and Payment plans are also available! Please contact us for more information.
How long is your season?
Our season starts after Marching band season, Typically between January-June. Select ensembles begin their season in November.
How often do you rehearse?
Rehearsals are held once a week. Ensemble directors may hold additional rehearsals in preparation for performances.
How many ensembles can a student be in?
Students are encouraged to participate in 1-2 ensembles. Students may participate in additional ensembles at the recommendation of their ensemble directors.
Does my student need to audition?
Select ensembles may require an audition in order to maintain the integrity of the ensemble.
The ensembles that require auditions are:
Orlando Youth Jazz Orchestra 1 & 2
Orlando Youth Salsa Band
Orlando Youth Chamber Orchestra
For students who aren't selected to be in the aforementioned ensembles, they will be placed in rudimental ensemble
