Christopher Medina, born and raised in Miami, FL, has been an active member of the music scene since the age of twelve. Christopher originally found his love of music through playing the clarinet in various classical ensembles. As Christopher’s technique developed so did his musical taste which led him to picking up the guitar. His influences, varying from classical to heavy metal, have led him to become proficient in a wide variety of genres. Christopher recently made the move from Miami to Orlando, FL to pursue his studies in jazz at the University of Central Florida. There he is studying under the direction of Professor Jeff Rupert and Jazz guitarist Bobby Koelble. Christopher is set to graduate in the Spring of 2019 with a B.M. in Jazz Studies.
Prior to pursuing a Bachelor of Music at UCF, Christopher has done various work as an educator and free-lance guitarist. Christopher has taught guitar and theory privately and in group settings across central and southern Florida. In recent years, has been performing in the central Florida area with multiple combos and ensembles. Along with playing in University of Central Florida’s Jazz Ensemble, Christopher has led various jazz trios and quartets. Christopher, as a studious musician, regularly composes/arranges for a plethora of ensembles including his own jazz combos.
